    Group 2 Day 2 - recap

The racing is done, tires worn out (quite literally in one case) and weary warriors are beginning the long cruise home (doesn't it always feel faster going home?). First and foremost, congratulations to ALL VCMCers who made the trek down to SCCA US Solo Nationals, the trip and experience are priceless and few have the opportunity to do it. You ran with the best!

STS: Rich Basford did his best NT impression laying down some impression West course times and just missed the trophies by about 1/2 sec, co-driver Andre Millette improved all day long and managed 30th

BS: up next was the S2000 contingent with Mitch with trophy chances after Day 1 in Rich Arienzale's car. There was mention that there was a potential protest for Rich's car being too low, will have to interview Rich when he gets back to get the low down (no pun intended) on that. Rich was able to beat Mitch in his car on Day 2 but was unable to overcome the deficit from Day 1, Mitch finishing in 16th, Rich in 27th. Arthur continued his fine form on the back of his BC Champs performance lead Owen on Day 2 as well. Dirty Owen Kirby managed a clean final run to put in him 25th position and Art finished in 19th

BSL: Michelle Burton went all or nothing on Day 2 to catch Avril and the rest of the lades in BSL, unfortunately coning every run. Avril slipped a spot in Day 2 times to 4th and managed to hold 3rd place overall by .3 secs. Michelle finished 5th in class.

AS: Yarko Petriw would have no end to car drama and scrambled to find yet ANOTHER ride on Day 2 as he and the Snells discovered that the rear tires on the Cayman S had corded from Day 1 action. Replacements weren't sought as they felt the same would happen on Day 2 and Yarko was left without a ride. Hurricane Hernandez a VCMC event regular came to the rescue in another Cayman S. Yarko would be unable to make up the difference and finishes 13th in AS. I still stand by my statement that 13 is lucky! =P

Congrats again to all who made the trek down including John Haftner and our friends from Alberta Reijo Silvennion and Ambrose Fung, apologies if i missed anyone!
