  • Looking for help classing my 240sx

    Hi!

I went to Cup 4 & 5, but overheard from the announcer that I'm classed wrong still (oops!). Got some help getting classed initially which put me in XSA, but I guess I might have missed some info to get classed properly?

Anyway I drive the Blue 1993 240SX that has trouble stopping, not sure which mods need to be listed/which don't, but here's what is done to it in depth:

Curb weight around 2800lbs I think
    1.8L CA18DET Engine Swap (JDM S13 motor)
    SR20 T25 Turbo
    Tubular Turbo Manifold
    Apexi Boost Controller @10psi
3" Exhaust 1 resonator to exhaust cutout
    Front Mount Intercooler
    Walbro 255 Fuel Pump
    ISR Front and Rear Swaybars
    ISR Rear Upper Control Arms
    ISR Tension Rods
    ISR Short Shifter
Raceland Adjustable Coilovers (No dampening adjustment)
    R32 GTR Driver's Seat
Rear seats removed (still fully carpeted etc)
    Rear battery relocation
    17" Teehee 37 rep Wheels
500 Treadwear, Traction AA, Temperature A, Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 3+ (245/40R17 Rear, 225/45r17 front)

Any help would be much appreciated!

    Thanks,
    Adam

    Hey Adam,

We checked around and XS-A seems correct... Also if you're under 2750lb, you'd qualify for XS-B.

    Cheers,

    Dimitri

Just to clarify those weights are without the driver. Ideally you would want to be just slightly over 2750 as XSA has the softer (easier) index time.

Great! Ya I believe the car is heavier than stock so should be above 2750lbs (without me in it), but I'm not 1000% sure. I heard Mission has a scale, any idea how that works? Have only been to MRP twice (Cup 4 and 5), so don't have a very good lay of the land outside of the Go Kart track hahaha

You can always try a truck weigh station in the evenings.

With all the mods listed, you are definitely XS class so the only issue would be the weight of the car. As Brian said you really want to be in XSA for the lower PAX (handicap) as XSB is for even potentially faster lighter cars. As the OEM curb weight for your car is just under the 2750 lb class break, it is not unreasonable for you to run in XSA. If you were running at a regional or national event your car would be weighed, but for club events, we don't require weighing. The XS classes allow for 200TW tires, so your 500TW tires could be limiting your progress.
For now just concentrate on your driving and think about getting some better tires for 2023
