  • Knox Countdown!

With only a few days left before Knox, Lowell at www.lr-racing.com is working 14 hours a day to get our car ready. I'm so excited and can't wait for the weekend to come, but we still have so much left to do!!!

    1. Koni Motorsport race suspension isn't arriving in time, so we're going to buy something off the shelf.
    2. Seat isn't here until tommorow.
    3. My driving suit didn't arrive so I'll be wearing an OMP factory Honda suit (thanks Frank at www.ompwins.com)
    4. Brakes are coming thursday night.
    5. Wheels arrived yesterday and they are perfect (Thanks Don at www.pdm-racing.com)
    6. Two tires are here, two tires are coming friday morning!

If all of this falls into place by friday night, we'll be racing at Knox. The scary thing is that we'll have no idea how it will drive, but first year is more exploratory than anything else. Everyone that has gone for a quick time the first year has crashed big time.

    With us luck!!!

      Same thing here....

-Just got moroso valve cover gaskets to solve a problem at test & tune

-Installing new front brake lines and 2nd willwood proportioning valve today

-Need to make ramps to get car onto trailer, still need trailer insurance

Ran Knox 2001 and it was a last minute rush then as well. I have been told by a couple senior drivers that always will be

        Kelowna Weather:

        Looks like some rain expected.

Probably first rainfall we've had in months....

Until a couple of days ago, the last I heard was that Knox was canceled because of no insurance. By the time I heard it was on, it was too late to make plans to go watch.

Good luck to those who are competing, and a safe trip for everyone making the trek! Maybe next year....

Give you guys a status update so if you decide to do the crazy thing called Knox, you have an idea how much work is involved. Darren, my team-mate has been a life saver, doing a tremendous amount of footwork to get this car ready.

            1. Suspension definitely won't be here as Koni is just now cracking open the shocks to build the struts. Instead, Lowell ( www.lr-racing.com ) has pulled the suspension from one of his customer's cars and "loaning" it to us for the weekend!!! The suspension is currently installed.

            2. Carbon/kevlar OMP seat arrived today and is being installed tommorow. ( www.ompwins.com )

            3. Picking up the rest of the Nomex stuff tommorow.

            4. Brakes are in and installed. They are skinny, but they are large diameter. We'll probably have to do more development work here, we're not too happy with the kit we bought, but we're desperate, everything looks good right now.

            5. Wheels fit and were tested on the car today, thank goodness! ( www.pdm-racing.com )

            6. Two are still here and two more are coming tommorow night.

We decided that there were three critical things that needed to happen for us to go to Knox:

            a. Tires
            b. Brakes
            c. Seat

"b" and "c" are now taken care of and "a" should arrive tommorow. We are definitely going to be at Knox racing this weekend! Woohoo!
