That online reg system was a life saver today. Didn't have to stand in line in the negative temps and sideways rain.

spoonek4: We had 3 runs in the morning and 5 after lunch. And yes, it was Mason's little red dx who left coldrsx and me in the dust.

The weather in the morning was the worst I've seen in autox, that was nice we didn't need to work for those 3 runs, very good decision by the organizer. The rain stopped at about the time we started our runs, but the track was still wet. We took it easy because no workers, and had a 1hr lunch break and wait for the track to dry. 5 more runs in the afternoon, track was almost totally drive, everyone improved on their time. The track was just fun when it's dry, I pushed as hard as I can and got my fastest time in the 6th run. But after seeing some fast times, I decided to take some more risk and push even harder, but too bad, I spun in that run. It started to rain again just before my last run, and I couldn't improve my time in my last chance. The event ran fast and smooth, very nice timing display, it was great.

The event ran extremely smooth, given the weather factor. Very impressed when the folks went to work and set up the timer and scanner, etc. when the weather cleared up.

                Thanks.

Another well run CPE. Don't have much to comment except that I think the weather wasn't just brutal to human beings. It was brutal to the cones as well. A couple of times I saw a cone got hit and immediately got decapitated. Was that the low temp that made those cones brittle? Otherwise, the going rate for new cones seem pretty high. We found out the cones in questions are pretty heavy. Don't know if that contributes to their death.

Oh Farz! If I didn't ding that cone on my last run... ...actually then I might not get that scratch time anyways.

You guys made me work so hard today. I really, really enjoyed racing in today's event, more so than many of the Champ events last year. I found today's competition for FTD just awesome. We actually had almost six people involved and we were all thinking one more might join in. There was yourself, Cary Lam, Mason Yu, Peter Tkatch, Yarko Petriw and even Guido Van Duyn. What's really impressive was to see how each driver was knocking each other off by a tenth at a time.

Joe Cheng was sitting with me in the car and even he was getting excited to see who was FTD now. We'd both be fully concentrated on the display board as the six contenders crossed the finish line

To get that 41.6, I had to drive my heart out, going through sections with the car right on the edge. I thought I was going to lose control so many times or at least hit a million cones. The car was in that floaty feeling for about 90% of the course, especially the offsets and slaloms, great fun!

Now that some comments have come in, I'd like to thank Guido, Lawrence and Mason for doing an awesome job of running today's event. They proved once again that changing conditions can be adapted to with innovation and fresh thinking. The decision to not have course workers during the biting cold was the right decision. I'd also like to thank Mark and Gerald for putting together another fantastic course. Elise Leyland asked who designed the course because she thought it one of the best ever and Elise has run A LOT of nationals calibre courses!

Finally, a big thank you to the members who came out and raced and worked without having to even call for workers more than the first time. You guys truly made the day a lot easier for the organizers.

Keep those comments coming, this is how we know what to do again and what to improve in the future.

I tried to do that after I got my best run too, but I lost control and spun. I know I'm the one who screw up.

From what I've observed, the type of cones you were using tend to shatter spectacularly when hit in cold weather. The so called "fisher price" cones that UBCSCC and I believe BCMA have are damn near indestructable in any condition.

yea...but those also do a great job of wrecking your car... and i find them too small and too light just slightly touching the edge makes them fly away....

True! It's cheaper to replace those cones than to repaint the car (don't ask me how I know ).
