I can't believe this. I was listening on a real time radio broadcast this morning from Topeka. After the second heat, they shut the event down because of what happened in New York and Washington. The air-force base has shut down because of national security and everyone has to clear out with their cars and stuffs.

Believe it, the armed forces are at threat level "delta" - which is one command away from war. I pray many east coast competitors are able to contact loved ones back home.

Believe it. Any Gov't or military installation is a potential target. When it comes to this kind of stuff, the U.S. doesn't mess around. Imagine a renegade/hijacked plane plummetting onto Forbes Field and the world's best autocrossers are dead in the blink of an eye. Not a risk I'd be taking.

I don't know if this is to be believed but the DFLP now claims responsibility for today's crimes.

Nope. Too small an organization and without worldwide connections, it couldn't pull off something this big. My money's on Al-Qaida. Whoever it is, the bastards must be stopped. Car related aspect - expect gas prices to jump beyond the 81.9c/litre despite OPEC's promises to stabilize supplies.
