Yes, at least a full season of Solo2. Or if you've had high-speed performance driving experience -> competitive karting, track day, or road racing , you may qualify for Solo1.

Is it true that Solo II is highly recommended before going into Solo I?

You need a helmet for Solo I and II, but you don't need a 5pt harness for Solo II, only for Solo I. A couple of loaner helmets are available, so all your really need for Solo II is a safe car.

CACC License Applications are downloadable from www.caccautosport.org under "rules & forms".

To get a CACC license you need to be a CACC-affiliated club member...hopefully VCMC You qualify for season points if you compete in five or more Championship events.

Check the VCMC site for the complete 2002 schedule. Most Championship events are right at Boundary Bay.

That pretty well covers it. If you have a convertible, it's highly recommended that you also have a roll bar.

Hillclimbs require a full driving suit, shoes and gloves, plus a mandatory roll cagein the car. Check the rules to be sure.

    I stand corrected - you require a 5 pt for Solo I.

Closed Clubs = no trophies, just bragging rights, knowledge gained and a heck of a good time.

Championship Events = trophies awarded. The number of trophies given out depend on how big your particular car class is. You do not need to be a CACC-licensed competitor to enter any event or win a trophy, however, you need the CACC-license to accumulate points towards the entire season champoinship.

Closed clubs are members only practices where we work out new ideas, setups or informal coaching. Championship events are a series of specific events where all licensed competitors compete for points and trophies. Solo 1 is a higher speed Solo-II event similar to time-trialing, more towards road race speeds.
